THREE GENERATIONS OF EVANS CONSTRUCTION...

Thomas Evans HistoryThe history of Thomas M. Evans Construction began in late 1940 with Thomas M. Evans Sr. who was a carpenter by trade and a "favorite" of John C. Long, a well known developer most remembered for the development of The Isle of Palms "cinder block housing" as well as other housing projects throughout the Charleston area in the 1940's, 50's, and well into the 1960's. As a young man Thomas M. Evans Sr. was first presented with an oppportunity by J.C. Long to buy a piece of land in North Charleston in the 1950's. Thomas Evans HistoryThis is where the beginning of Thomas M. Evans Construction as a company actually begins. It was with this parcel of land in North Charleston which today is known as Brentwood. The development of the Brentwood subdivision was followed by Glynn Terrace, Evanstan Estates, and then to a 300 acre tract in North Charleston, Forest Hills.

Thomas M. Evans Sr. was a high profile and influential leader in his day and will go down in history as an important link in the development of North Charleston. A past president of the Home Builders Association, instrumental in North Charleston's city counsel and most importantly the proud father of Thomas M. Evans, Jr. who at the age of 19 began in the Evans "father to son" tradition of instilling a love of carpentry, high standards and good old fashioned honest work ethic. Today Thomas M. Evans, Jr. has his sights set on development in Berkeley county with the construction of a 300 unit mobile home development near the new Google Plex as well as an upcoming 210 apartment complex to serve the influx of "the Google work force".Thomas Evans History

Today after 47 years in the building and developing business, Thomas M. Evans Jr. looks forward to retirement with hope for the future as he is proud to have had the opportunity to pass his love and honorable work ethic in the buillding industry on to his son Thomas M. Evans III. Better known as Tommy, this next generation of Evans' builders has taken a turn to the oceanfront on Isle of Palms, SC where the humble beginnings of his grandfather's career began with cinderblock houses and J.C. Long. Over the past 6 years this third generation Evans has departed from the "bread and butter" housing market and is making his mark in the creme de la creme luxury homes niche. Thomas Evans HistoryProlific on the beach with more than 17 new luxury homes over the past 6 years, Tommy has raised the bar on the beach for top notch construction while continuing to break price point records and setting new standards for excellence in construction.

Thomas M. Evans III is reminded by his father to make no mistake that the "bread and butter" housing developments, 900 unit apartment building projects, and trailer park developments will alway be the most lucrative profit centers. Thomas Evans HistoryBut for Tommy Evans it's not all about the business aspect of the construction business. It's all about doing what he loves to do. The most important things says Tommy are "the challenge, fine workmanship, creativity and building the finest homes possible".

"We've come a long way" says Thomas M. Evans, Jr. - "My father Thomas M. Evans, Sr. built the first Thomas M. Evans Construction home in the 1950's which sold for $10,750" while today his grandson Thomas M. Evans, III is breaking records for oceanfront custom construction on the Isle of Palms. Thomas Evans HistoryAccording to Tommy III, "It's the challenge of building the best that can be built".
